Get started with auto-tracking with motion detection (iPhone)
Auto-tracking with motion detection is the default mode for all Driversnote accounts. It allows you to track trips using just your phone automatically. It uses the GPS and motion sensors on your device to track your location and plot your driving when you go at a vehicle speed.
It will track you when you reach any vehicle-like speed so that it can track you in other vehicles, public transport or even bike rides. If that becomes a significant concern, we recommend the iBeacon to lock your tracking to a single vehicle.
We do not want to and cannot track you at all times. The app simply monitors your location and does not save this data in any way until you are driving. Then, it saves the data only to help with your driving records.
How to get started with motion detection tracking on your iPhone
When you’ve setup the app, your settings should be as required, but if you have any issues, go to Settings on your phone and scroll down to Driversnote. You want these settings to appear as follows:
While Bluetooth can be on or off depending on your needs, all other settings need to be active. Particularly important is that Location be set to Always, Motion & Fitness be turned on and Background App Refresh be turned on.
Then, open the app and go to Settings > Auto-tracking. Here you need to confirm that Motion detection is active:
The final step is to make sure you have “Auto-track” on at the main home screen of the app:
