How to: add tags to your trips
Have you needed to add more information to your trip record? Do you need to add repeating client details, or trip purposes, or other information that is used repeatedly?
You already have the ability to add notes to trips, but these have always been designed as unique notes that you type in for each trip.
We now have tags! Tags are designed to be repetitive and to allow you an easy way of defining and then adding regular informative text items to your trips.
For example, you can create a list of client names or numbers that you regularly add to trips. Or you might want it to include other purposes for the trip, such as “client visit” or “delivery” or “supply pickup”. They can be anything you want!
Tags can be added both in the app under Settings > Tags, or in the trips (when reviewing in the app) when you go to add a tag.
Note: You can use tags in both individual and team accounts, but for teams, only administrators can create or delete tags. When your team administrator has created tags, members can then add them to their trips.
Working with tags in Settings
To create, delete or view tags, open the app and go to Settings > Tags
If you have more than one workplace, you will be prompted to select one of them here.
Remember: Each workplace in your account will have its own separate set of tags.
Tags can be any text you need, so be as precise as you like.
They can also be saved in different groups to help with your records. You might have a group for trip descriptions and another for client details, for instance.
In the app, tap the + sign in the top right corner to add a new tag. There, you will be prompted to create the tag and also assign the tag to a group or create a new group:
Each tag needs to be placed in a group, but there will always be a default Activity group if you do not want to add any more.
After you tap Save you can add any further tags you like in the same way.
Working with Tags in the inbox or All Trips tab
When you review or check any trip in the inbox or All Trips tab, you will see a Tags field with the other details.
- Click in the field and add an existing tag there by tapping the tag.
- For a new tag, just start typing it and you will be prompted to create the tag.
- When you’ve done, tap Done to finish and save.
Frequently asked questions
Q: Will I be able to make reports by filtering for tags?
Yes! Look at our main article on How to create reports to learn more, but in the app and on the web you can now filter by one or more trip tags you have created when making a report.
Q: I’m on a team. Can I make my own tags?
No. Tags have been set up for teams to allow the administrator to create and edit tags, and for the team managers and members to use those tags in their trip records. As a team member, you could create a personal workplace to use your own tags as well, but do check with your administrator first to see if that will suit your team.
