Phone requirements for the Driversnote app

The Driversnote app works on both Apple and Android phones. The app performs best on newer devices and with the most recent iOS and Android operating systems. Check out the recommended phone models and operating system versions for your device below.

iPhone

  • iPhone X and newer
  • For optimal performance, we recommend iPhone models not older than 2-3 years.
  • We strongly advise running the latest available operating system (iOS) version for your iPhone (phone’s Settings > General > Software update).

Android

  • Recent Android devices (from the last 2-3 years)
  • The device must have Android 13 for new devices and at least Android 10 for older models

Can I use the Driversnote app on my tablet or iPad?

The Driversnote app is created and intended for mobile phone use and we currently don’t support or troubleshoot tablets and iPads.

I got a new phone - how can I see my previous logged trips?

To continue using Driversnote on your new device, simply download the mobile app and log in with your existing account credentials (email and password). All trips you’ve recorded on your previous phone are safe in your account. Make sure to check you have the correct settings on your new phone so Driversnote can run seamlessly. (You will not need to re-connect the iBeacon)

Will my app work when my phone is offline or out of reception range?

Yes! Normally, as long as you have a GPS signal (almost everywhere except occasionally underground or in deep tunnels), you can use Driversnote. So even when you are in remote areas without reception, your driving will still be tracked. Trips will be stored on your phone, and as soon as you are within reception again (or on wi-fi), your phone will synchronize with your account on our servers and back up all your data.

iPhone Tips for Best Performance:

Check for new iOS updates in your phone’s Settings > General > Software update.

Allow automatic app updates on your iPhone, so the Driversnote app is always up to date.

  1. Go to your phone’s Settings > App Store
  2. Turn on App Updates (green) under Automatic Downloads

Android Tips for Best Performance:

Check and update your Android operating system:

  1. Go to your phone’s Settings > System > Advanced
  2. Tap on System updates, where you can see your device’s current Android version. If there’s a new version available, you’ll be able to download and install it.

Allow automatic app updates on your Android, so the Driversnote app is always up to date.

  1. Open the Google Play Store app > tap the profile icon
  2. Tap Manage apps & device > Select Manage > Driversnote
  3. Tap More > Turn on Enable auto update

When updates are available, then the Driversnote app will update automatically. Please note that depending on your Android device, steps may differ.

Additional recommendations: Some phone brands are more demanding than others when it comes to running apps in the background. They often kill apps running in the background due to strict battery preserving settings.  We strongly encourage all Android users to read our guide on Battery Saving settings for helpful information and fixes for each phone brand

Driversnote and Huawei phones

Please note that the Driversnote app is only available on Google Play Store. This means that if you're using a Huawei device on which Google Play Store is not available, you will not be able to download our app.

Huawei phones released before the trade restrictions, such as the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro, have access to Google Play Store. Newer models, such as the Mate 30 and P40 series, were released after the restrictions and do not come with Google Play Store preinstalled.
