iPhone requirements

Driversnote’s app works with iPhone X and up; however, for optimal performance, we recommend iPhone models not older than 2-3 years.

Both Apple and Driversnote continuously improve, so we strongly advise running the latest available operating system (iOS) version for your iPhone.

You can check for new iOS updates in your phone’s Settings > General > Software update.

Don’t forget to keep your Driversnote app up to date too, by installing the latest version available from the App Store.

Tip:

Allow automatic app updates on your iPhone, so the Driversnote app is always up to date.

  1. Go to your phone’s Settings -> App Store
  2. Turn on App Updates (green) under Automatic Downloads

Android requirements

The Driversnote app works best with more recent Android devices (from the last 2 years).

We recommend running Android 11 and up on your device for optimal performance. On older phone models, we recommend running at least Android 9.  Remember to also keep the Driversnote app up to date by installing newly released versions from the Google Play Store.

Check and update your Android operating system:

  1. Go to your phone’s Settings > System > Advanced
  2. Tap on System updates, where you can see your device’s current Android version. If there’s a new version available, you’ll be able to download and install it.

Tip:

Allow automatic app updates on your Android, so the Driversnote app is always up to date.

  1. Open the Google Play Store app
  2. At the top right, tap the profile icon
  3. Tap Manage apps & device
  4. Select Manage > Driversnote
  5. Tap More
  6. Turn on Enable auto update

When updates are available, then the Driversnote app will update automatically.

Please note that depending on your Android device, steps may differ.

Additional Android recommendations

Some phone brands are more demanding than others when it comes to running apps in the background. They often kill apps running in the background due to strict battery preserving settings.

Battery Optimization settings may prevent Driversnote from working properly on your phone.

We strongly encourage all Android users to read our guide on Battery Saving settings for helpful information and fixes for each phone brand.

Common questions

Q: Can I use the Driversnote app on my tablet or iPad?

The Driversnote app is created and intended for mobile phone use and we currently don’t support or troubleshoot tablets and iPads.

Q: I got a new phone - how can I see my previous logged trips?

To continue using Driversnote on your new device, simply download the mobile app and log in with your account credentials (email and password). All trips you’ve recorded on your previous phone are safe in your account. Make sure to check you have the correct settings on your new phone so Driversnote can run seamlessly.

Q: How can I check if I have the latest version of Driversnote?

To check the currently installed version of Driversnote on your phone, open the app and go to Settings. Scroll to the bottom and you will see the app’s version (e.g. Driversnote v. 3.0.25). There you’ll also be able to see if there is a new app version available.

Q: Will my app work when my phone is offline or out of reception range?

Yes! Normally, as long as you have a GPS signal (almost everywhere except occasionally underground or in deep tunnels), you can use Driversnote. So even when you are in remote areas without reception your driving will still be tracked. Trips will be stored on your phone, and as soon as you are within reception again (or on wi-fi), your phone will synchronize with your account on our servers and backup all your data.
